Quatermass Motorsport – Safeguarding Policy
(Version 1.0 – September 2024)
1. Purpose
Quatermass Motorsport is a UK-based sim-racing organisation committed to ensuring that everyone who takes part in our activities—drivers, staff, volunteers, and community members—can do so safely, confidently, and free from harm. This policy sets out our approach to protecting children, young people, and adults at risk within all Quatermass Motorsport operations, online and offline.
2. Policy Statement
Everyone has the right to participate in sim racing in a safe, inclusive environment.
We recognise our duty of care to safeguard all participants, regardless of age, ability, gender, race, religion, or background.
We will act on any safeguarding concern promptly, sensitively, and in accordance with UK law and Motorsport UK guidance.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all Quatermass Motorsport activities, including:
Online sim-racing leagues, streams, and community channels.
Training and coaching provided through the Para Racers Academy.
Public appearances, events, and partnerships.
4. Responsibilities
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Andrew Chell - Team Principal
Receives and records all safeguarding concerns.
Liaises with statutory services or Motorsport UK’s safeguarding officer where appropriate.
Contact: andrew.chell@quatermassmotorsport.co.uk
All staff, drivers, and volunteers must follow this policy, complete basic safeguarding awareness training, and report any concern immediately to the DSL.
5. Safer Working Practices
Maintain respectful, professional communication across all online platforms.
Under-18s or vulnerable adults may only participate with parental/guardian consent and supervision.
All content produced or streamed under the Quatermass Motorsport banner will avoid inappropriate language, harassment, or exploitation.
Data and personal information will be protected in line with our Data Protection Policy (GDPR 2024).
6. Reporting Concerns
Any participant who feels unsafe or observes concerning behaviour should contact the DSL immediately. In emergencies or where a person is at immediate risk, contact the police (999) or the local authority safeguarding team.
7. Monitoring and Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or after any safeguarding incident. Updated versions will be published on the Quatermass Motorsport website and shared with all team members and partners.
Safer Recruitment Statement
(Version 1.0 – October 2025)
Quatermass Motorsport is committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants, including children and young people who engage with our sim-racing activities.
While we are not a regulated child-care provider, our volunteers may occasionally interact with under-18s or vulnerable adults during online sessions, events, or through the Para Racers Academy. We therefore follow safer recruitment principles to ensure everyone representing Quatermass Motorsport is suitable and acts responsibly.
Our approach includes:
Selecting volunteers and collaborators based on integrity, experience, and shared values of inclusion and respect.
Requiring all regular volunteers to complete a basic safeguarding awareness module and adhere to our Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.
Maintaining open communication with parents or guardians—no under-18 participates without consent and, where practical, their parent or guardian is included in correspondence or online sessions.
Responding promptly to any safeguarding concern raised by parents, participants, or volunteers.
This statement is reviewed annually alongside our Safeguarding Policy to ensure best practice is maintained.
